Be a hero at life’s finish line

A life-saving mission will take over Dana World Headquarters campus on Saturday, November 5, 2022 for the Hero Hustle 5K!

Life Connection of Ohio, the non-profit organization that serves families and saves lives through organ donation, and Community Tissue Services, the non-profit organization that serves families and heals lives through tissue donation, are partnering together again for this awareness event. The goal of the Hero Hustle 5K, now in its ninth year, is to strengthen support, education and recognition of organ, eye and tissue donation in northwest Ohio.

On November 5, registration will start at 7:30 AM, the kids’ fun run will start at 8:30 AM, and the 5K run/walk and 1-mile family fun run will start at 9 AM. There will also be a virtual run option and K9 hero kits for the dogs. Registration for the 5K, 1-mile family fun run and virtual run is $25, and that money goes right back into the hands of the participants through a sweatshirt and finisher dog tag. The kids’ fun run is $5 and includes a superhero cape and goodies, and a K9 hero kit is $5 and includes a bandana and a treat. Online registration at davesraces.com is open until the start of the 5K on November 5.

This awareness event could not come at a more crucial time. Currently, there are more than 105,000 people on the national transplant waiting list, including over 3,000 Ohioans. Sadly, 20 people die every day waiting for an organ transplant. The good news: One person has the power to save up to 8 lives through organ donation and heal 125 more through tissue donation.
